When I bought some beautiful “Asiasalat” – Red Giant at the market, my plan was to combine it with butterhead lettuce in a salad. Lo and behold, it ended up in a green smoothie. The one I made was a little bit too spicey, so I adjusted the amount of Red Giant accordingly …
You will need the following ingredients:
– 2 ripe fair sized bananas (how to tell if a banana is ripe)
– 1 to 2 fair sized leaves of Red Giant (Asiasalat)
If you don’t have access to this, I imagine a similar spice can be obtained by using arugula
– 3 to 4 fair sized butterhead lettuce leaves
– 2 to 3 Medjool dates
– 1 cup of water
– Optionals: Cinnamon, Maca, or another pulverized plant or superfood to add additional nutritional value
First, pour the water into your blender.
Then break the bananas into pieces
and drop them into the blender as well.
Slightly rip apart Red Giant and butterhead lettuce leaves
If your blender is not a high-speed one,
it may be beneficial to cut the dates into small pieces before adding them.
Otherwise, simply de-pit.
Lastly, add your optional(s) …
The Red Giant gives the smoothie a mustard seed like spice that is nicely balanced by the sweetness of the dates.
You may use hemp seeds and date pieces to garnish.
I hope you enjoy this one.
It would be great to hear about your favorite green smoothie recipe in the comments 😉
